What is RFID?
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)
is a wireless technology that allows business
users to be able to read and identify
a broad range
of tagged objects and items without the
requirement to be able to physically "see"
the items in question. This ability
to easily and efficiently uniquely
identify and more importantly track important
business assets throughout the business
gives the management and users within
the business the ability to make the right
important decisions at the right time
and with the right information to hand.
How
does it work?
The vast majority of RFID tags or transponders
(the tags are often used interchangeably)
use a silicon microchip to store a unique
serial number and usually some additional
information. There are two broad categories
of RFID systems—passive and active
systems.
Passive RFID tags do not have a transmitter;
they simply reflect back energy (radio
waves) coming from the reader antenna.
Active tags have their own transmitter
and a power source, usually—but
not always—a battery. They broadcast
a signal to transmit the information stored
on the microchip.
The
radio waves received back from a passive
or active tag is detected by the antenna
and with the aid of a coupler (RFID reader)
is passed to a host computer and converted
into useful information that can be used
by the business to make everyday important
decisions, such as whether to order new
stock because supplies are running low
or to trigger an event when a successful
shipment of goods has been despatched
from your warehouse.
How
can we help?
We
can provide your business with consultancy,
bespoke software development and systems
integration to help you realise the benefits
of RFID. We can give you the benefit of
our years of experience with this technology
and help you to succeed with your RFID
implementation where so many other companies
and RFID integrators have failed.
We
have a vast experience of implementing
projects with all commonly used RFID frequencies
including Low Frequency (LF @ 125khz),
High Frequency (HF
@ 13.56mhz) and Ultra High Frequncy (UHF
860
MHz to 960 MHz)
We
deliver you Real Consultancy, Real Solutions
